Event Details

Dr. John Hunt of Pearl, Mississippi will be presenting a FREE 6 hour Professional Development on Saturday, September 24th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center for educators in Greenville Public and Western Line School District; non-GAP educators can attend the workshop for $60. CEU credits are available for all interested participants.

Dr. Hunt is a science educator who has lived and worked all over the world. He has taught science in K-12 schools as well as at the university level for 50 years. He is currently a professor of teacher education at Mississippi College. The first program he offers is staff development for designing lessons using Understanding by Design and Differentiated Instruction (UbD/DI) lesson format. These lessons combine concepts of science, language arts, art and music in engaging hands-on activities.

Dr. Hunt will demonstrate a variety of ways to engage students in science projects. His methods break down step by step how teachers can use small experiments to grab a student’s attention and get them excited for learning. His session makes clear connections to Science Mississippi State Frameworks and provides take away lessons for the teachers to use in their classrooms.
